May 13th, 2010 The Last year of my 20´s
I am turning 29 soon. This gonna be my last year to enjoy my age on my 20´s. I guess there are many things I have learned and got some fun out of it from relationships, work, friendship and money.
When I was 15, I started to apply a summer job. My face looks like I was only 7 years old, the company had a hard time believing I am already 15. It has always been like this. When I started to work for a company in Hong Kong, the older employees thought I am only 16 where in fact I was already 26 that time. I was presenting our new software with the other teams and I heard from the other side of the crowd whispering “Why they hired a 16- year old girl? You think we can trust her?” I have to wear clothes that would increase my face to look like 35 years old. It was not easy. Yeah, I know I am Asian and we have small built in body features that we look 10 years younger than our real age. Thanks to that but sometimes it is really hard to work with older professional people as they will look at you as inexperienced and not reliable. From a business point of view there is still something special about age 29 because you are willing to take risks. You feel you can achieve a lot more than someone who is older, who has had experience of failure, has more responsibilities and has more to lose.
Anyway, in relationship when I was in my early 20´s I always believe in fairytales of a happy ending story but I just learned it is not always working all the time. I cried few times for a guy and learned how to let go. When I was 20, I just remembered I was so possessive I never wanted my guy to talk with his female friends. With time and experiences, I develop a feeling of openness that in a relationship you cannot avoid your other partner to have female friends. You need to trust. If your guy is having sex with the other girls it does not always mean he loves them. Some of the men´s brain are just down there. With few relationships I had, the best thing you will ever feel is to be with a man you never feel any suspicions about him and you always feel that you will always be the ONLY one. Some casual relationship turns into a real one. Some starts with sex and later develop the feelings of love. Some started to fell in love at first sight but later realized he was not the one. Some even started with cheers of a beer in a bar and later ended up a toast for champagne in your engagement party.
When you are 29, your creative sparks ignites will rise too. There are few successful men I have read and learned from school that at this age they started to get high when it comes to creating new ideas. Such people are like Quentin Tarantino who wrote and directed the acclaimed film Reservoir Dogs at 29. Or Stella McCartney, the fashion designer, who launched her own label at Gucci just before turning 30.
Now I am excited to leave my 20´s stage of life and becoming a mature experienced woman.
